The Salt Factory is the second chapter in Meat Boy, and the third chapter in Super Meat Boy and Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine.
It is an abandoned factory that appears to have produced a surplus of salt. The substance is normally harmless on contact, but will kill Meat Boy due to his lack of skin. It is littered with still-online machinery, ranging from mildly helpful to extremely harmful.

Trivia[]
- "Can o' Salt" is going to be a playable song, which can be downloaded from the Rock Band Network. This also applies to "The Battle of Lil' Slugger" and "Betus Blues RETRO".
- The Salt Factory, along with The Forest and Hell is one of the areas to appear in the Flash game Meat Boy that reappeared in Super Meat Boy. The Light World uses a remixed version of The Salt Factory theme from the original Meat Boy.
- The name and artwork of the title screen of the warp zone "Cartridge Dump" is a reference to the infamous 1982 E.T. the Extraterrestrial game, which besides being considered one of the important factors in the 1983 U.S. video game crash, is confirmed to have many copies buried in a New Mexico landfill (therefore, "cartridge dump").
- The startup image for "Cartridge Dump" was changed in the XBOX version.
