Super Meat World is a level portal for Super Meat Boy. The game received it after its Steam release, which was used in tandem with a Level Editor.

About

Super Meat World allows levels to be shared on a global scale without the use of filesharing.  The world map features a blood-red Forever Alone face, a contrast to the Teh Internets' green Trollface. The binary in the background on the world map is the same binary on Teh Internet's map, only in red instead of green. This world is not required for 106%, but is necessary to get all achievements on Steam.

Super Meat World consists of a large variety of levels, from a large variety of creators. A chapter or level can be searched using the search function of their respective tab. A chapter/level can also be searched using the creator's name. A level can also be played individually from a chapter. There is also The Unknown, which is a mode that automatically generates a chapter consisting of user-created levels of a chosen difficulty. (Easy, Normal, Difficult, Crazy, Nightmare). The accuracy of this feature varies.

Any palette can be used for a chapter, even mixing them all, but only one can be used per level. Fourteen songs can be selected to play throughout the chapter. No bosses can be used in Super Meat World, even with commands, they don't upload with it. Any character (including the ones that you can't pick normally) can be selected and uploaded with the chapter.

History

Back before an official level editor was made, the -devmode command was found. Which allowed them to create their levels. Team Meat created an official level editor and later, Super Meat World was released in April 2011. In 2012, the SQL servers were hacked and the servers were shut down as a result. They were permanently shut down until 2018 when interest grew for Super Meat World. In May of that year, Super Meat World would be re-opened to the public, where it has stayed open since.

Trivia

• The world's face and name display are a reference of the "Forever Alone" meme.
• When playing the Ultra Edition of Super Meat Boy, Super Meat World is always unlocked - even if the player has no bandages - and has only 5 chapters: Super Potato Boy, Paradise Lost, Butcher Boy, Jumper Returns, and Remnants.
• GLaDOS of the Portal series makes an appearance in the background.
• The chapter is unlocked in the Linux port (Humble Indie Bundle 4) with 20 bandages.
• It's the only world that doesn't have an intro cinematic that refers to another game.
• Running the OG version of Super Meat Boy with an internet connection will crash it. It tries to connect to the old Super Meat World servers, which no longer exist.
• Two binary strings alternate in the background, 1001010110001011010 which translates to ?? and 0101101000110101001 which translates to Z5, but more notably is the previous string backwards perhaps making ?? and ¿¿.
• The difficulty selection options are a reference to the game Doom.
