Super Meat Boy Forever is an independent video game developed by Team Meat set to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, Android and PC.
History
In 2011, Tommy Refenes began working on a mobile spin-off game of Super Meat Boy. The game was originally called Super Meat Boy: The Game. It was announced in 2014 and was given a 2015 release. However, very little information was shown.
A few years later, Team Meat restarted the project. The game was now going to be a sequel rather than a spin-off. The game was revealed at PAX West 2017 and while the reception of the game was mostly positive, it still gained some controversy with fans. The game was reported to release in 2018.
In December of 2018, the game recieved its first official trailer. The game's release was delayed to April of 2019. However, on April 4th, the game was delayed again. They announced that a second trailer would be made and have the final release date. The current release date is "After but not too far after April 2019.".
Gameplay
Super Meat Boy Forever brings back the original game's challenging gameplay, as well as main villain Dr. Fetus. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl's child Nugget has been kidnapped by Dr. Fetus and the couple must work together to rescue her. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl are now able to kick and punch where before they were completely defenseless. Players will also go access to jumping, a jump attack, a slide, and a dive, utilizing only two buttons. Quite different from the original game.
Players will need to avoid obstacles and defeat multiple enemies over numerous levels. The levels are generated randomly in premade 'chunks' that are dependent on the player's skill level. The game includes six new levels, each with their own secrets [1] After completing a level, that level will be reconstructed into a much harder version, but one that is still far from impossible to complete.
