Needles are a recurring hazard that first appear in Super Meat Boy. They are bunches of (presumably used) syringes supplied by various medical facilities that cause harm to Meat Boy and co., though their properties differ depending on the game.
History[]
Super Meat Boy[]
Needles debut in Super Meat Boy, first appearing in 2-1 Biohazard. They appear in both piles and falling columns. Contact with needles will kill Meat Boy. They primarily replace saws in The Hospital.
Super Meat Boy Forever[]
Needles in pile and column forms return in Super Meat Boy Forever, first appearing in You'll Feel a Pinch. They now have new behavior: Meat Boy and co. can move through needles without immediately dying, but will have a death timer placed on them (indicated by a red ring with a skull). The timer resets once the player leaves the needles, but if the timer fills up due to staying in the hazard, the player will die. They primarily appear in The Clinic alongside glass as the primary hazard of the chapter.
