Missile launchers are a recurring hazard first introduced in Meat Boy. In all appearances, they launch explosive missiles with homing properties.
History[]
Meat Boy + Meat Boy (Map Pack)[]
Missile launchers debut in Meat Boy, also appearing in its Map Pack expansion. If Meat Boy is not hidden from their vision, they will shoot missiles every ~2 seconds that aim and slightly hone in on him. They are part of the tileset, but are not solid, letting Meat Boy pass through them. They first appear in 12. Kaboom!
Super Meat Boy[]
Missile launchers reappear in Super Meat Boy, first appearing in 3-8 Boomtown. They function near-identically to how they do in the Flash prototype, but have a new, barrel cannon design that aims at Meat Boy when he's in range. Missiles can now destroy crumbling and metal blocks.
Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine[]
Dr. Fetus' Mean Machine features missile launchers, first appearing in 3-1. They now have a reticle to show where they are going to fire. When first aiming, they will target the clone the player is currently controlling, but the target will change to the most recently-placed clone up until the missile fires, where the targeting process repeats. The missile will home in on its targeted clone, most notable if it's one the player still controls.
Trivia[]
- Missile Launchers exist in The End as an invisible object, but the missiles will have the appearance of Dr. Fetus' missiles.
- Missiles and Black Maws can be juggled so that they don't touch the ground or a wall. This doesn't require gaps in the ground or wall to do.
