Buttholes are a hazard that first appeared in Meat Boy. They almost exclusively appear in Hell.
History[]
Meat Boy + Meat Boy (Map Pack)[]
Buttholes debut in Meat Boy, also appearing in its Map Pack expansion. They shoot blobs of lava roughly every second. They are also part of the tileset and act as blocks that have all the properties of solid terrain. They first appear in
Buttholes are functionally identical to sawblade launchers and salt blasters.
Super Meat Boy[]
Buttholes appear in Super Meat Boy with slightly different behavior. The projectiles are now more solid balls of lava that abide to gravity; the projectiles will lose altitude over time. Buttholes that aim upwards will shoot lava balls up, but they will fall down after a while.
Buttholes whose projectiles ignore gravity are in the game's files, but can only be seen in custom levels on Super Meat World.
Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine[]
Buttholes return in Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine, first appearing in 5-1. They slowly produce floating lava balls that follow the clone the player is currently controlling. They will overlap and not destroy clones that are aleady placed.
Trivia[]
- In promotional footage and early versions of the demo for Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine, orb launchers appeared in butthole's places.
- The reason for changing the hazard is likely due to its greater presence in Hell.
